A reboot of the PC will resolve the issue. Disabling ZoneAlarm, Norton, and SpyBot has no effect. disabling-enabling the Local Area Connection has no effect. Turning the modem off and on has no effect. I'm able to ping internet sites, such as even though the browsers can't load a page. Symptoms began many months ago, I've just been living with this inconvience, but the PC is slowing down and now takes 7+min to fully reboot, where as, it used to take 2 min. Web pages can be loading fine, then all of the sudden FF 'can not connect' or IE 'page not found'. Symptoms occur irregularly, that is, the connectivity may go out a couple of times a day or not for a week. I recently put on zonealarm, which I believe is partially responsible for the slowness.
I've got 2 things going on: browser loses connection to internet (though I can still ping) and the computer is now running extremely slow.
